WHILE most Dar es Salaamians are looking for a new, stronger and perhaps more reliable Dr Babu to stop the rains, which have returned with a vengeance, somebody through a shoe at Hillary Clinton.
Her response was “My goodness, I didn’t know that solid waste management was so controversial. Thank goodness she didn’t play softball like I did.”
And her softball skills were in full display because even at delightful age of 66, her reflexes were ever sharp as she dodged the ball and continued about business speaking in Las Vegas hosted by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries.
The media went on to show a rather unflattering photo of Hillary after she ducked the shoe and there are even sound bites of people laughing at her joke post shoe attempt.
There have also been quick references to when former Prez Bush had his life flash before his eyes when a shoe was thrown to him. Prez Bush wasn’t the only one who has had his life threaten by a shoe and lived to have the culprit locked away for a long time.
In 2009, the former Prime Minister of Australia, John Howard almost saw the pearly white gates and met St John when a boot was thrown at him while delivering a speech.
A boot, which is way much heavier and could if, by the Lord’s graces the attacked person survived, would potentially mean plastic surgery and years of therapy to recover.
In 2010, the former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair also had a run in (pun unintended) with a shoe but his assailant was creative enough to throw in eggs as well.
I think Blair’s scramble egg was supposed to be his breakfast as there were unconfirmed reports that the former PM did not have breakfast that day. In 2013, former Pakistani Prez Pervez Musharraf also had his life flash before him as a shoe was thrown at him.
This was for the second time with the first time being 2 years prior by a young boy meaning that Musharraf is not appreciated much by a wide demographic of Pakistanis.
This is probably one of the very few times a woman politician has been attacked in this way.
Keeping in mind the fact that women are delicate and I would imagine a man would appreciate a more hands-on approach it is no surprise to discover that a woman is the culprit.
A yet unidentified woman has been arrested after admitting she did throw the shoe at Hillary.
I think with everything else, we should also ask Bill if he knows her. Even do a lie detector test on him to rule out what we are all quietly thinking.
